The Peugeot RCZ is a sports car that has been on the market since the year 2010. The vehicle was first launched in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show and is offered as Peugeot’s successful commercial vehicle. The vehicle comes as a 2-door coupe which utilizes a 1.6 L engine and adopts two transmissions formats, the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle measures 4287mm in length, 1845mm in width and a height of 1359mm. It takes great resemblance to the Peugeot 308.

The Peugeot RCZ is offered to the local South African market under the management and administration by Peugeot South Africa. Two models are made available to the local market and these are the RCZ 1.6 Auto and the RCZ 1.6 Manual. Both engines use a 6-speed gearbox and maximum power generated by the Automatic model is 115kW at 6000rpm, with the manual model variant doing 147kW at 5500 rpm. The maximum torque recorded for the automatic model is 240Nm at 1400 rpm and 275Nm for the manual model. The two models both carry a fuel tank with capacity 55 Liters; and urban fuel consumption for the Automatic model is 10.3 L per 100km, while its combined fuel consumption ratio is 7.3 L per 100km. The manual model variant uses 9.1 L per 100km in the urban setting and records a combined fuel consumption of 6.9 L per 100km.

The Peugeot RCZ is quite classic in stature and takes on the stylish design and handwork consistent with Peugeot’s modern models. The stylish nature of the vehicle is attributable to the external design and features that include the 18 inch alloy wheels for the Automatic model, with 19 inch alloy wheel featuring on the manual model. Other defining external features are the Automatic Windscreen Wipers and Rain Sensors; the color coded bumpers and door handles. Fog lights, front parking sensors and tinted windows also feature standard on the external design of the vehicle. Other notable functions on the vehicle are the electronically operated and folding mirrors; and the side mirror adjustable mirror when reversing.

In addition to the easy handling, the vehicle also offers comfort and luxury through the many comfort features. The vehicle also features an on-board computer and refrigerated glove box compartment for the greatest comfort. The driver and passenger can also enjoy the comfort of the sound system which comes with a radio, CD player, capable of reading and playing MP3 music. The entertainment portfolio also includes the USB box and Bluetooth, both features coming standard on the two models. Other notable interior features are the Bi-Zone Automatic Climate Control, the Cruise Control with Speed Limiter and the Driver and Passenger Heated Seats.

Safety and security is provided in many respects, courtesy of the active and passive safety features on the vehicle. The Peugeot RXZ takes on the ABS function with EBD, the driver and passenger airbags, Anti-Theft Alarm System with Interior Motion Detectors. Other standard safety functions on the vehicle are the Automatic Switching-on of the Hazard Lights in Emergency Braking and the Manual Deactivation System for front Passenger Airbags. Other top of the range safety features are the Electronic Stability Control and the Directional headlamps.
