The KIA Sportage 2WD comes in both 2.0 L and 2.7 L engines; one is petrol and the other diesel, the diesel being AWD. It was built by the Korean automaker Kia Motors, as a compact crossover SUV since July 1993.

The other AWD version is the powerful and quiet 2.7L V6 CVVT petrol fed engine. All have generous acceleration and sure-footed handling. The first generation Sportage was developed on the Mazda Bongo engineering base platform and shares many mechanical components such as the engine, transmissions, and differentials with the Mazda line of vehicles. The second generation came on the market in 2005 sharing the same platform as the Hyundai Tucson. The third generation Sportage uses a 2.0L CRDi 136 and 184 HP Hyundai R diesel engine.

The Kia Sportage design is advanced in making; more elegant and rigid. Its body strength is excellent, and this shows in the way the 2010 Kia Sportage handles the road with pompousness. It has breathtaking safety features; with features like ABS, EBD, BA, SRS airbags, ESP, TCS, rear parking sensors, a high mounted stop light, and side and curtain airbags.

The interior of the Sportage interior is plenty of space, and the seats provide plenty of padding for your backside and support for the back. The driver is granted plenty ergonomics and the instrumentation and switchgear is pleasant and simple to use.

It provides for a cruise control function and the steering wheel is mounted with audio controls, while climate air filtration to keep the cabin fresh and balanced. There is an auxiliary input jack, a USB audio input with iPod compatibility, an MP3 compatible CD player and crystal clear six-speaker surround sound.

The Sportage did exceptionally well in crash testing results, and this new model is superb in design and safety.

The more luxurious models come with side and curtain airbags as standard. The car is very solid and very safe.

The engine is refined and responsive. The LX model is a front-wheel-drive and houses the 2.0 four cylinder petrol motor that boasts of 104 kW of grunt. A very useful 184 Nm of torque is generated. In this guise, the manual five-speed or four-speed automatic gearbox performs very boldly. The petrol motor drives with ease and grace.

The Sportage has the power needed to pull heavy trailers on holiday. It has high ground clearance of 195mm making it a capable light off-roader, and the part time AWD system searches for every bit of traction possible.

The interior of the Sportage is appareled with bright light colors providing a pleasant cabin ambience. It provides for an excellent 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, granting the driver peace and comfort on the wheel. It has a leather steering wheel and gear knob designed for refinement and great touch of excellence. The rear passengers are kept in mind with super rear seats which are able to recline. There is plenty of storage space, making it family orientated.The latter grades are equipped with satellite navigation, and a premium six-speaker audio system.

It has gentle exterior lines and aerodynamics. It comes with powerful front and rear fog lights, roof rails, dual mufflers with a chrome finish, a high quality anti-corrosion treatment, and robust under-body skid plates at the front of the vehicle and over the fuel tank at the back.

The current existing models include the Kia Sportage LX, Kia Sportage EX AWD, Kia Sportage EX CRDi AWD, Kia Sportage EX-L AWD, and Kia Sportage EX-L CRDi AWD.
