The Fiat Grande Punto is a car manufactured by the Italian automaker Fiat. It was unveiled on May 5, 2005. It is the third generation Fiat super-mini to bear the name Punto, codenamed Project 199, the Grande Punto was unveiled at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show and went on sale later that year. Designed by Giugiaro, the car is based on the Fiat-GM Small platform. Whilst the model shares some of its name with the previous Punto, a large number of its components are new, including a new chassis and body shell.

The engines are the Fiat 1.2 8V Fire, a new 1.4 8V Fire and the 1.4 16V StarJet. Four MultiJet diesel engines are also available: two 1.3 16V units and 66 kW; the latter with a variable geometry turbocharger and two 1.9 with 88 kW and 96 kW, all of them with diesel particulate filter.

All the engines are Euro IV compliant. In 2007 the new 1.4 16V T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine 88 kW became available. At the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, Fiat introduced 114 kW, an Abarth version by Abarth & C S.p.A.. It was branded as an Abarth rather than Fiat. The car's nose, headlights and front grill look reminiscent of the Maserati Coupé; both designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign.

The Fiat Grande Punto is available in India with ten variants, out of which its five variants are available with two options of petrol engine, available with Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants of Fiat Grande Punto and the 1.4L petrol engine is available with Emotion and Emotion Pack. The petrol engine produces 51 kW power at 6000 rpm and 96 Nm torque at 2500 rpm. The rest two petrol variants of this car are powered by the 1.4L petrol engine that is able to produce maximum power of 90 bhp; 67 kW of maximum power at 6000 rpm with 115 Nm of maximum torque at 4500 rpm.

Rest five variants of Fiat Grande Punto are powered by a 1.3L, Multijet Variable Geometry Turbocharger. Diesel variants are also available with two engine options - 1.3L, Multijet diesel engine that produces 56 kW of maximum power at 4000 rpm with 197 Nm of maximum torque and a 1.3L, Multijet diesel engine that delivers 68 kW of maximum power at 4000 rpm with 209 Nm of maximum torque at 2000 rpm.

Fiat Grande Punto models in India include the following variants; Active 1.2 Petrol and 1.3 Diesel, Dynamic 1.2 Petrol and 1.3 Diesel, Emotion 1.2,1.4 Petrol and 1.3 Diesel, Emotion Pack 1.4 Petrol and 1.3 Diesel and Diesel 90HP As a show of its technological advancement in providing real safety and security, the Grande Punto was awarded with 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash test for passenger protection and Euro NCAP 3 star certification for pedestrian safety. The most powerful engines have electronic stability program and anti slip regulation fitted as standard, and it is an optional extra on some of the lower powered engines.
